ICC Certified Fire inspector One Practice Test

Expired fire extinguishers should be disposed of according to local regulations because they are no longer reliable for fire suppression and could create a safety hazard if used. Most jurisdictions have specific guidelines for the disposal of fire extinguishers, which often includes taking them to a recycling facility or a hazardous waste disposal location.

Refilling expired extinguishers for reuse could compromise safety, as the contents may no longer function effectively. Utilizing expired extinguishers for training sessions is also discouraged because it can give a false sense of security about their reliability. Keeping them as backups is not advisable, as expired extinguishers do not provide the necessary level of protection in an emergency. Disposing of them properly ensures that they do not pose a risk and that any recyclable parts are handled in an environmentally responsible manner.
